Dr. Sudhir Rama Varma has been involved in specialty practice since 1997. His expertise spans periodontics (his field of specialty) and general dentistry. Having worked in a dental consultancy where general dentistry was the key element of treatment delivery, he has been able to treat his patients from a complete rehabilitation point of view. His fields of interest include endodontics, oral surgery, orthodontics, and laser dentistry, which is part of his specialty in periodontics. He has kept himself updated and regularly attends advanced specialty courses in these areas. Additionally, Dr. Varma has been trained in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), which is a requisite when practicing advanced specialty dental care. Over the years, he has attended various hands-on workshops. The laser courses he has completed range from basic to advanced, with emphasis on oral oncology and hands-on training related to the three most common wavelengths used in dentistry: diode, CO₂, and Erbium lasers. Dr. Varma has also participated in various congresses related to endodontics and the management of endo-perio conditions. He has been trained in most of the rotary systems used in endodontics over the past few years. Attending endodontic microscope workshops has given him the confidence to treat re-endodontic cases from both periodontal and endodontic perspectives. The incorporation of minor orthodontic treatment into his practice has given him the ability to evaluate ortho-perio cases more diligently. The use of various appliances has helped him treat periodontal cases more effectively, as well as put patients on regular follow-up schedules. He has also managed minor oral surgical procedures, such as impactions, cyst enucleation, and vestibuloplasties, the knowledge of which has helped him plan his periodontal surgical procedures, including bone grafts, soft tissue grafts, and implant treatments. Restorative procedures such as fillings, inlays, onlays, and crown preparations have also been regular features of his practice.
