Dr. Fares Howari is the Dean of the College of Humanities and Sciences and Director of General Education Programs at Ajman University. A distinguished scientist, engineer, and academic leader with over 25 years of experience in academia, research, and administration, he oversees academic development and fosters a forward-thinking approach to education. Previously, he held the role of Interim Vice Provost and Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Fort Valley State University (FVSU), where he implemented strategic reforms to enhance program performance and faculty development. Dr. Howari also served as the Founding Dean of the College of Natural and Health Sciences and Acting Dean of the College of Social Sciences and Humanities at Zayed University, spearheading interdisciplinary initiatives and institutional growth. Additionally, Dr. Howari has held research and faculty positions at the University of Texas at Austin, contributing to groundbreaking work in environmental sciences and policy. His expertise spans natural resources management, uranium geology, sustainability, and environmental sciences, areas in which he has secured significant external research funding. Known for his innovative leadership, Dr. Howari is committed to integrating sustainability principles, cutting-edge research, and interdisciplinary collaboration to advance educational and environmental goals. His work emphasizes sustainability and innovation, employing advanced spatial tools for environmental mapping and addressing water resource management and pollution remediation strategies.

  • UNEP Education and Youth Initiative held in Nairobi in advance of the UN Environment Assembly. The meeting was attended by UN Environment’s 25 Regional Advisers, UN Environment staff from four regions, UNESCO, three youth participants from Nairobi Universities and with contributions from the World Bank and the Behavioral Insights Team virtually.
  • Forum of Belt and Road for Deans of Environment School which took place in Shanghai, China. The forum is organized by UN Environment-Tongji Institute of Environment for Sustainable Development (IESD). This forum mainly aims to learn and inform about the resources and needs of environmental sectors in different countries along the Belt and Road. " ZU’s capabilities.
  • Climate Change and Soil Salinity Dynamics - Threats and Challenges” which took place at the Arabian Gulf University, Manama (Kingdom of Bahrain) and was organized by Arabian Gulf University, and International Center for Bio saline Agriculture, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The title of the presentations “Experimental and Computational Method to Enable Un-mixing of Hyperspectral Data of Common Salts”.
