Ajman University Leads the Launch of the UCN Decarbonization Academy in Collaboration with Leading Universities in the UAE
In line with its commitment to sustainability and climate action, Ajman University announced the launch of the University Climate Network (UCN) Decarbonization Academy, in collaboration with the American University of Sharjah and New York University Abu Dhabi. This initiative is part of the UCN’s carbon neutrality pillar and aligns with the UAE’s 2025 Community Year, which aims to make a meaningful contribution to society.
The UCN Decarbonization Academy seeks to promote environmental sustainability and enhance climate awareness through a series of interactive workshops led by a distinguished group of academic experts in the field of sustainability. The academy aims to empower participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to develop effective decarbonization strategies, helping institutions reduce their emissions and strengthen their sustainable practices.
The academy focused on several key areas to deepen participants’ understanding of decarbonization mechanisms. The sessions began with foundational concepts on climate and carbon awareness, helping participants grasp the importance of reducing carbon emissions and their environmental impact. The academy also covered topics such as how to develop a climate action plan, where participants were trained on practical steps to create effective strategies for achieving carbon neutrality in their institutions.
The session also focused on data collection and emission calculation methods, helping participants measure environmental impact and make informed decisions.
