His Highness Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman, Chairman of the Executive Council, chaired the meeting of Ajman University’s Board of Trustees held at the University’s premises in the presence of Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Ajman Municipality and Planning Department and Vice Chairman of Ajman University's Board of Trustees.
His Highness the Crown Prince of Ajman praised the efforts of the board members and the University's notable achievements during the meeting held at the University's. He highlighted the University's progress in University rankings and its leadership in both national and international rankings. He also emphasized the University's attainment of prestigious international academic accreditations, which reflect the quality and excellence of its academic programs.
His Highness Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi stated that Ajman University’s transition to a private, non-profit institution marks a strategic step toward realizing the "We the UAE 2031" vision and the “Ajman Vision 2030.”
His Highness pointed out that this transformation will enable the University to enhance academic excellence by developing innovative educational and research programs that align with community and job market. This will support its financial stability and educational projects, while also reducing reliance on tuition fee revenues by attracting financial contributions from institutions and individuals who believe in the importance of education in promoting sustainable development.
His Highness added, "The University will be able to enhance innovation and knowledge exchange by strengthening its partnerships with both the public and private sectors, which will positively impact the community by improving the quality of education and implementing initiatives that achieve sustainable development and progress for society."
During the meeting, the board approved the annual budget for 2024-2025, as well as the University’s Fundraising Policy and Guidelines. It also reviewed updates on the standing subcommittees community engagement, financial audit, financial sustainability, and approved of the list of graduates.
Dr. Karim Seghir, the Chancellor of Ajman University, presented the University’s significant achievements. He highlighted AU’s remarkable advancement in the 2025 QS Arab Region Rankings, securing the #17 spot. This marks a significant leap from #22 last year and an impressive rise of 53 places since 2017. He also noted the University’s progression to Group 2 in the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research classification for the first time, along with its prestigious international accreditation from the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) in the United States.
The presentation also showcased the University’s unprecedented success in attracting a record number of new students and outlined its ambitious plan to transform into a non-profit academic institution. This transformation aims to strengthen AU’s engagement with both internal and external communities.
The meeting was attended by members of the University’s Board of Trustees, including H.E Abdullah Mohammed Al Muwaiji, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Ajman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, H.E Dr. Saeed Saif Al Matrooshi, Secretary General of Executive Council in Ajman, H.E Dr. Amina Abdul Wahid Al Rostamani, Executive Board Member, Shareholder and Director at AW Rostamani Group, H.E Rashed Abdulrahman Sultan Bin Jebran Alsuwaidi, Director General of the Human Resources Department in Ajman Government, His Excellency Abdulla Humaid Ali Almazrouei, former Minister of Justice and member of the University’s Board of Trustees, H.E. Dr. Dalya Al Muthanna, President and CEO of General Electric in the Gulf Region, H.E Essam Al Tamimi, and Dr. Karim Seghir, Chancellor of Ajman University, was also in attendance.
