A team from the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences composed of the Dean Prof. Nageeb Hassan, Deputy Dean at Fujairah campus Prof. Sumia SirElkhatim, Head of Pharmaceutical Sciences Department Dr. Moawia Altabakha, Head of Clinical Sciences Department Dr. Moayed Alomar and the Coordinator of the Office of Experiential Learning Dr. Sanah Hasan attended the 4th regional pharmacy faculty development workshop under the theme “Taking your Experiential Education Program to the Next Level. The event was hosted by Al Ain University-Abu Dhabi campus in collaboration with the Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA), Ministry of Education, UAE in collaboration with the Accreditation Council of Pharmacy Education (ACPE), International service (Chicago, USA) and American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP), Virginia, USA.
The workshop focused on the components of experiential program, namely preceptor, students, curriculum and assessments. Teams were formed around tables and had to set goals and make strategies in the areas of the curriculum and preceptor including the quality assurance of the experiential learning. The teams were then asked to review and prioritize their initiatives by identifying one or two area which they can focus on when they return to their institutions. The workshop was essential to stakeholders concerned with the experiential education and was appreciated by all delegates.
