The College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences held its Preceptor Orientation for the second semester of 2018/2019 academic year. The meeting was conducted in the presence of Prof. Nageeb Hassan, Dean, College of Pharmacy, Head of Departments, Coordinator of Office of Experiential Learning, College faculty and representatives from health institutions, hospitals, pharmaceutical industry and community pharmacies.
Several items were discussed during the meeting including the learning outcomes and objectives of the training courses in the B.Pharm program. The need to objectively evaluate students for the achievement of these outcomes was discussed. A full discussion of the linking of each of the learning outcomes and the preceptor evaluation form used by preceptors to evaluate students at the end of their rotations was delivered.
A list of activities has been designed to help current and new training sites explore possibilities for student exposure on the site during training. These were discussed and explained in detail.
A workshop was conducted to get a feedback on each preceptor about the avenues for training they offer and others that could be offered in the future. All ideas were shared with the whole group, The preceptors were encouraged to discuss opportunities to enhance training available at their institutions; ideas of training were exchanged between all sites.
