Ajman University (AU) board of trustees has approved the annual budget of the year 2019/2020 and the list of the 28th batch of graduates named after the ‘Year of Tolerance’.
The 1,264 graduates, including 489 males and 775 females, are hailing from 42 different nationalities around the world, best reflecting AU diversity.
The regular AU board of trustees meeting was chaired by His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member, Ruler of Ajman and Chairman of Ajman University Board of Trustees.
The board further approved the amendments introduced to the University organizational structure, its scholarships, policies and procedures.
The meeting, held at the Ruler Court, was attended by Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Deputy Chairman of AU Board of Trustees, and Chairman of AU Board Executive Committee, and board members Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Ali Al Nuaimi, Saeed Mohammed Al Raqbani, Abdullah bin Humaid Al Mazrouie, Dr. Saeed Abdullah Hareb and Dr. Abdulrahman Sultan Al Sharhan.
In his speech, H.H Sheikh Humaid stressed the importance of community development.
“This is a priority for the UAE leadership, led by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Their Highnesses Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates.”
Education and investing in the UAE youth represent the cornerstone of the country’s sustainable development strategy, he added. “This is actually the right path for a modern community.”
Paying tribute to H.H. Sheikh Humaid for his relentless support to Ajman University, Sheikh Rashid said AU has seen a remarkable growth worldwide due to this exceptional support.
“Ajman University has significantly contributed to the development of higher education in the UAE, especially in Ajman.”
AU Chancellor Dr. Karim Seghir, meanwhile, briefed the board of trustees on Ajman University achievements in 2019.
“The 2020 QS World University Rankings lists AU in the top 2.8% universities worldwide and among top 1.7% institutions in the Arab world.”
