Ajman University (AU) students, for the 10th year in a row, have stolen the show at the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Student Day 2019 and bagged eight prizes in the 14th edition of the competition held recently in the American University of Ras Al Khaimah.
The annual competition aims at promoting the culture of competition among students, recognizing outstanding achievements of IEEE members in the UAE, providing a platform for exchanging expertise, enhancing students’ leadership skills, and enlightening the public about the Institute.
AU electrical engineering and biomedical engineering students have far excelled their competitors from 16 universities nationwide and won eight out of 21 prizes. This puts Ajman University on the lead in terms of the most prizes grabbed, for the 10th consecutive year.
Students of Engineering, Information Technology and Computer Science from 16 universities nationwide competed in six main categories: Common design project, Engineering Design Project, Senior Design Project, Software Engineering Project, Industrial Design Project, and Community Service Project.
The ‘Autonomous Vehicle Race’ project submitted by AU Engineering student Subae Haitham Al Sebai has dazzled the jury and secured the first position in the Industrial Design category. The project was carried out under the supervision of Eng. Yahia Ibrahim.
The ‘Virtual Reality for Education: Water Cycle Game’ project submitted by AU Engineering student Ali Mohammed Ridha and supervised by Eng. Wessam Shehieb also grabbed the first position in the Software Engineering category.
The ‘STEM Related Applications’ project submitted by AU Engineering students Samra Mariam Siddiqui and Nabil Al Mallah, and supervised by Eng. Tazeen Sharif Lana, ranked first in the Community Service category.
The ‘Marble Sorting System’ project submitted by AU Engineering students Kashif khan and Abdulazeez Omar ranked first in the Engineering Design Category. The project was done under the supervision of Eng. Mahnoor Zafar.
The same ‘Marble Sorting System’ project submitted by AU Engineering students Shahd Youssef, Iraki Engy, Hazem Elsayed, Lina Naim, Khaled Alnaser, and Salma Mohamed Elsayed secured the third place in the Engineering Design Category. The project was carried out under the supervision of Eng. Mohammed Agam.
The ‘Smart Assistive Glasses for Alzheimer's Patients’ project submitted by AU Engineering students Mohamed Ait Gacem, Saifeddin O.S. Alghlayini, Muaid Hafiz Mohammmed, and Ahmed Hesham Ghazal seized the 2nd Place in the Computing and Robotics section under the Senior Design Category. The project was supervised by Prof. Mustahsan Mir and Engr. Wessam Shehieb.
The ‘Intelligent Rehabilitation Device for Facial Paralysis’ project submitted by AU Engineering students S. Mohammad Rameshi, Mohanad Rafat, Mahmoud Elsayed, and Mohammed Mahmoud seized the 2nd Place in the Electronics and Communications section under the Senior Design Category. The project was done under the supervision of Dr. Hasan Zidan Engr. Khaled Mahfouz.
