The Wife of His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, H.H Sheikha Fatima Bint Saqr Al Nahyan, has honored 755 female graduates of Ajman University (AU).
The graduates, part of the AU 28th batch - ‘Batch of Tolerance’, have luckily been named after the pioneering initiative of the President, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan who declared 2019 as the ‘Year of Tolerance’.
The 775 female graduates, included 686 holders of bachelor's degrees and 89 earners of master's degrees.
The commencement ceremony saw the presence of the Wife of H.H Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman, Sheikha Asma bint Saqr Al Qasimi, Wife of Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Ajman Tourism Development Department, Sheikha Aisha Bint Sorour Al Dhaheri, Wife of Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Ajman Municipality and Planning Department, and Sheikha Khawla Bint Khalid bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Also present were H.E Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of the Federal National Council, Hessa Bint Essa Buhumaid, Minister of Community Development, Jameela Bint Salem Mesbeh Al Muhairi, Minister of State for Public Education, Mariam bint Mohammed Saeed Hareb Almheiri, Minister of State for Food Security, Sarah Bint Yousif Al Amiri, Minister of State, along with a number of female dignitaries, legal leaders, educators, AU faculty and staff members, mothers, graduates and guests.
In her keynote speech, H.E Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of the UAE Federal National Council, paid tributes to His Highness the Ruler of Ajman for his unlimited support to the academic and scientific activities of Ajman University.
She also thanked Wife of His Highness the Ruler of Ajman H.H Sheikha Fatima Bint Saqr Al Nahyan for her dedication and support for culture and knowledge.
“Nothing is comparable to this auspicious moment and ultimate happiness seeing a bright future thriving at the hands of these ardent young people.”
There is no limit for the ambitions of the UAE, she added.
“When the First Emirati astronaut Hazzaa AlMansoori came back safe from space, we then realized what His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, meant when saying: “The sky is just the beginning.”
Dr. Nahla Al Qassimi, Dean of the Deanship of Students Services, AU, said Ajman University is one of the most esteemed academic institutions locally and worldwide.
“According to the 2020 QS Arab Region Rankings, announced on October 30, Ajman University is now ranked among the top 45 institutions in the Arab region.”
Ajman University, for the first time in three years, has broken out of the “ranges” by earning the exact rank of #45 in the Arab World, she added.
“Equally exciting is the news that we earned even higher rankings in select categories: 2nd for International Students and 30th for Employer Reputation.”
Ajman University, recognized as an emerging leader on the global academic map, has been ranked among the top 800 institutions worldwide, she said.
“The 2020 QS World University Rankings lists AU in the top 2.8% universities worldwide and among top 1.7% institutions in the Arab world.”
Ajman University has also earned a spot among top 150 universities under 50 years within QS World University Rankings of the “Top 50 Under 50, she underlined.
“QSWUR 2020 also ranked Ajman University 4th for international faculty and 6th for international students.”
While the 2019 commencement ceremony saw 1,264 graduates from 42 nationalities, the function held on October 28, saw 489 male graduates - including 461 holders of bachelor's degrees and 28 of master's degrees, while 775 female graduates, including 686 holders of bachelor's degrees and 89 of master's degrees, were honored on October 29.
