A group of MSc in Clinical Pharmacy students attended the first National Pharmacy Conference (NaPhCo 2025) on the 22nd and 23rd of February which took place in Movenpick Grand Al Bustan hotel in Dubai. The conference was themed: “Innovating Pharmacy Practice: Bridging Gaps, Building the Future.” and organized by the Emirates Pharmacy Society. The aim of the conference was to connect pharmacists, researchers, policymakers, and industry leaders from across the country, fostering valuable relationships and collaborations, highlighting latest products, technologies, and industry solutions, building valuable relationships with influential pharmacists and thought leaders in the field and contributing to the ongoing dialogue about the evolving role of pharmacists in healthcare delivery.
A total of twenty interactive sessions spanning two days tackled a range of topics. The sessions were delivered by a variety of experts in the field and addressed multiple concepts such as pharmacy leadership and management, the impact of digital development and artificial intelligence on the pharmacy practice, the implementation of integrated pharmacy practices, advancements in pharmacotherapy of conditions like heart failure, depression and pain, and the role of pharmacists in contexts beyond the traditional clinical scope, such as in Pharmacoeconomics. The event also fostered educational development by hosting a professional poster competition for students to participate in and share their scientific work. BPharm students from the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences also attended the conference and participated as organizers for the event, and in the professional poster competition. Doaa Rafeq, an undergraduate student from the COPHS was awarded second place for her research project titled ‘EcoPharm AI: Smart Pharmaceutical Waste Disposal.’
