On March 02, 2024, the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences at Ajman University hosted a workshop titled "Pharmacy Nutrition Support - from Theory to Practice (Parenteral Nutrition)." Dr. Sanah Hasan organized this event, and Dr. Rami Diab from Sheikh Khalifa Medical City Ajman (SKMCA) led it, focusing on the critical role of clinical pharmacy in parenteral nutrition. The workshop was attended by MSc in Clinical Pharmacy students, highlighting the College's commitment to providing hands-on, interactive education.
The primary goal of this workshop was to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application in clinical pharmacy domain of parenteral nutrition. The workshop aimed to equip students with the skills and understanding necessary to excel in their future careers by combining academic learning with real-world practice, interactive discussions, and case-solving exercises related to medical nutrition.
The workshop covered various topics in parenteral nutrition, emphasizing its significance in patient care by covering the fundamental principles, exploring clinical scenarios requiring its use, and detailing various parenteral solution compositions and preparations. It also covered patient monitoring and management, potential complications, and mitigation strategies, offering a comprehensive overview of how to enhance healthcare professionals' and mainly pharmacists' proficiency in this specialized field.
Feedback from the attendees was positive, with many students expressing their appreciation for the opportunity to learn about parenteral nutrition comprehensively and engagingly. The workshop enhanced their knowledge and confidence in applying clinical pharmacy principles to nutrition support.
