On 16th December, The AU COPHS Dean Prof. Abeer AlGhananeem, accompanied by Dr. Muaed Alomar, Head of the Clinical Sciences department, Dr. Deema Mahasneh, Associate Professor at the Nursing department, and Dr. Subish Palaian, Coordinator of the Office of experiential learning, met with the representatives Saudi German Hospital Group (SGHG). The SGHG team included Dr. Omar Sabri (Designated Institutional Official), Dr. Refaat Abdelwahab (SGH Ajman Chief Medical Officer), Mr. Assem Elsayad (Academic Affairs Manager), Ms. Hebah Abu Farhah (SGH Ajman Pharmacy Manager), Ms. Yogambal Mangayakarasi (SGH Ajman Chief Nursing Officer) and Mr. Manu Markose (SGH Ajman Nursing educator). The SGHG is a MoU partner of AU COPHS and currently pharmacy students are being trained at their hospitals in Dubai, Ajman, and Sharjah.
During the meeting, the Dean thanked SGHG for supporting pharmacy student training and outlined the training requirements for the BSc Nursing program. Further, discussions were held on potential research collaboration, pharmacy graduates training for licensing exams, guest lectures, preceptor training programs, and possible community engagement activities on health professional education and training. The meeting was highly fruitful and the COPHS and SGHG representatives mutually agreed to initiate a contract on experiential learning for nursing students and strengthen further cooperation within their capacities.
