The 2nd AAU Health and Biomedical Postgraduate Symposium was held on February 8th on Al Ain University - Abu Dhabi campus. Under the guidance of Dr. Sanah Hasan and Mr. Ahmed Gaili, Samer Omar Alalalmeh and Omar Emad Hegazi, MSc in Clinical Pharmacy students at Ajman University and Sponsored Graduate Research Assistants (SGRAs), participated at the symposium in the poster presentation competition within the Clinical Pharmacy domain. Their poster, titled “Development of the Literacy Assessment of Hypertension Tool in Arabic”, aimed to develop, translate, adapt, and psychometrically validate a tool to assess the health literacy of hypertensive patients in an Arabic context. The poster was rewarded first place in the clinical pharmacy domain.
Furthermore, Dr. Sawsan Shanableh, a senior instructor at the Pharmacy College, gave an oral presentation at the conference titled "A Qualitative Exploration of Pharmacovigilance System in Dubai Hospitals (Pilot Study)".
This symposium, organized by the College of Pharmacy at Al Ain University, invited postgraduate students from the UAE and around the globe. The event was designed as a platform for students to broaden their scientific knowledge, advance their skills, explore career paths, and engage with experts and peers. It comprised a blend of oral presentations, poster presentations, and a 3-minute thesis competition across various domains, including Pharmacy Practice, Clinical Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Drug Discovery, and more. Our MSc in Clinical Pharmacy students engaged with experts and peers from various disciplines which gave them fresh insights and feedback which were invaluable for refining their research approaches.
