In alignment with Ajman University’s (AU) strategy to “strengthen meaningful relationships with external communities”, the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences has organized a trip to First Aid course students to the National Ambulance (NA) in Abu Dhabi. To integrate theory learning with practice and field learning, Mrs. Alaa Al Amiry- First Aid course coordinator, has arranged and supervised this trip to a group of her First Aid students of different majors. Students of First Aid, which is part of the general education program at AU, learned about the Dispatch Center of NA and the rules of dispatchers upon receiving emergency calls from the public.
Upon arrival, students were welcomed by the team at the NA, which is the sole prehospital care provider in the Northern Emirates, and whose Head Quarter is situated in Abu Dhabi. Members of the NA took AU delegates to check the premises, and observe the dispatchers in action while receiving emergency calls and responding to their incidents.
It is worth mentioning that Mrs. Al Amiry is planning to integrate this trip as a staple to First Aid and Community-based First Aid courses for the coming academic years, which is believed to enhance the exposure and connections of AU students to/with the industry.
