Several undergraduate and postgraduate students from the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences participated in the first International Conference for Pharmacy Students ICPS-1 that was held on the 20th and 21st of March in the University of Sharjah. A total of 18 student groups from our college participated in all the competitions, namely, poster competition, best innovative project competition, pharmacy team-based competition, video competition, and patient counselling competition.
The COPHS students obtained a total of six awards in several competition categories among the nine participating Colleges of Pharmacy in the UAE.
The second-place award in the scientific poster competition was for the project entitled “An observational study on adverse reactions of cosmetics: The need of practice the cosmetovigilance system in the UAE “done by Mohamed Ali Mohamed Sharafeldin, supervised by Dr. Akram Ashames and Prof. Elshaimaa Arafa.
The second-place award was also obtained in the best innovative project competition for the project entitled “The use of artificial intelligence in academic twinning program (AiTP)” supervised by Prof. Nadir Kheir and done by five pharmacy students and a student from the College of Engineering and IT, namely, Laith Hamza, Maryam Abdelhamid, Alenoud Mostafa, Shahd Mahmoud, Hana Mohamed, and Rand Sameer.
The third-place award was obtained in the student video competition for the project entitled “Safe disposal of unused medications at home” done by Alaa El-Sayed Fathy Hasan and Mayar Mohamed Saad Abdulqadir, supervised by Dr. Sanah Hasan.
The third-place award was obtained in the health awareness video competition for the project entitled “Flush or Trash? Towards Medication Sustainability” done by Alaa Hamdy Ahmed, Miar Sabri Elghamri, Mohammad Faisal Qasem, supervised by Dr. Sabrina Ait Gacem.
The third-place award was obtained in the poster competition for the project done by Lenna Saleh and Rand Al Ekk, supervised by Dr. Akram Ashames.
The fourth place was obtained in the team-based competition by AU COPHS students, Soheil Dashtinezhad, Ahmad Murad Salah, Zahraa Imad, Dania Rammal, Noor Kamal, Samer Alalalmeh, Omar Emad, Ahmad Alfaresi, Amira Ashraf, Walaa Ibrahim, Mihad Salah, Mohamed Ashraf, and Mohammed Nasser.
The College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences at AU was recognized and honored at the conference for the active participation. This conference contributed to encouraging research and teamwork projects and it enabled students to present and share their ideas and projects to the scientific audience.
