Five members of the College including Prof. Nageeb Hassan (Dean), Dr. Moawia Altabakha (Head of the Pharmaceutical Sciences Department), Dr. Muaed Al Omar (Head of the Clinical Sciences Department), Dr. Subish Palaian (Coordinator of Experiential Education) and Dr. Sanah Hasan (Clinical Sciences Faculty) have participated in the “Quality Measurement in Health Professions Education – Revisiting the Metrics” conference organized by Gulf Medical University (GMU). The conference was conducted over three days (February 25-27 February). On the first day, a series of workshops were conducted online under the theme: “how to design assessments for learning programmatically.” On the second day, a virtual conference consisting of webinars delivered by renowned academics and researchers in the assessment world. On the third day, an all-day workshop titled: “What does assessment of personal and professional development look like?” on competency assessment in pharmacy education. Evidence-based methods to assess personal and professional development as expected in the UAE Professional Pharmacy Graduates Competency Framework was reviewed. Discussions were shared by faculty from all pharmacy colleges in the UAE to learn about implementing the competency framework devised by the Ministry.
The conference was a collaborative effort by: Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA), Gulf Medical University (GMU), The Association for Medical Education in Europe (AMEE) and Dubai Health Authority (DHA).
