As part of community service, and as a commitment of the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences to acquaint all segments of society about diabetes, the College launched an awareness campaign in collaboration with Ajman Specialty Hospital to improve awareness about the disease on World Diabetes Day conducted on 14-11-2021.
World Diabetes Day is observed annually worldwide, and many International Foundations including American Diabetes Association launched a yearlong campaign dedicated to the global awareness of the prevention, early diagnosis, and treatment of this disease. The college of pharmacy actively plays an important role in achieving that aim.
The College organized a campaign in collaboration with Ajman Specialty Hospital under the supervision of Dr. Alaa Farajallah and Dr. Sawsan Shanableh, AU faculty members. They actively engaged with the public community and raised their awareness about how to manage their diabetes disease and the importance of life style modifications that should be followed to minimize the risks associated with diabetes.
The students participated in several activities, including measuring blood pressure and blood glucose, brochure presentations aiming to raise awareness of this serious disease. University students were educated about the risk factors, causes, methods of prevention and treatment of the disease.
