Dr. Moawia M. Al-Tabakha has been an associate professor of pharmaceutical technology at the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (COPHS) at Ajman University (AU), Ajman, UAE, since August 2016. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Wales, UK, in April 2000 with the research thesis "Formulation of Dry Powders for Inhalation." Since then, for over 24 years, he has worked academically at different universities across the Middle East. He has chaired several college committees, including those for quality assurance, research, postgraduate studies, examinations, training, and curriculum. He was appointed for a short period as deputy dean (15/1/2005 to 3/9/2005), acting dean (during the summer of the 2009-2010 academic year), general supervisor of the University library (during the 1st semester of the 2006-2007 academic year), coordinator for the pharmaceutical sciences unit (2013-2016), coordinator for international accreditation (Jan 2017 - ongoing), head of the Pharmaceutical Sciences Department (Sep 2017 - ongoing), and coordinator of the BPharm program (Sep 2019 - ongoing). Dr. Moawia is well-versed in current accreditation standards, both nationally and internationally. His experience in quality assurance has enabled him to lead teams in preparing self-study reports for accreditation. Dr. Moawia is currently the head of the ACPE International Certification Steering Committee (Jan 2017 – Present) at the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, AU, and a member of the standing Institutional Effectiveness Committee (Dec 2017 – Present). Dr. Moawia serves on the editorial board of several peer-reviewed journals and has reviewed numerous manuscripts for renowned journals. He has published several research papers in his field in peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Controlled Release (Impact Factor 2015: 7.633). Dr. Moawia was affiliated with two research groups that won awards for their professional posters at DUPHAT 2012 and DUPHAT 2013. In 2014, he was awarded the "Distinguished Researcher" title by his institution for his research publications in 2013. He currently has 49 Scopus-indexed publications with an h-index of 14. In 2022, 2023, and 2024, Dr. Moawia was listed among the top 2% of scientists in the world in his field, as published by Stanford University. He has also provided professional consultation in vegetable capsule shells to firms such as West Pharmaceutical Services, Reperio-Tech LLC, The Boston Consulting Group, and McKinsey & Company.
