This course is a continuation of PHA302. It covers fundamentals of various physiological, pathological, physicochemical and formulation factors affecting oral drug absorption. Emphasis will be placed on the pharmacokinetics after multiple IV bolus and oral doses, routes of excretion, metabolism, multi-compartment models and non-linear pharmacokinetics. Physiological determinants of variability, including age, body composition, renal and hepatic disease are also covered in relation to clinical application of pharmacokinetics.
