Dr. Nahla Al Qassimi
It is my great pleasure to welcome you all to the 3rd International Conference on Education and Mental Health. Our forum theme, Inclusive and Equitable Quality Education, brings to this venue seriously passionate advocates from different parts of the world. The forum aims to provide a platform for faculty, researchers, and others involved in academia and industry to present their views and share their experiences with research that addresses a number of issues confronting education and mental health.
We have an exciting program at this forum that will allow members to reflect upon and discuss the most recent trends in inclusive education, renew friendships and extend our networks, and jointly explore current and future research directions. We hope that you will have a productive forum.
Together, we reframe how quality education can be described and measured. Needless to say, we must look beyond student achievement. Embracing inclusivity today isn't just essential; it's the cornerstone of shaping the better future of education, ensuring every student, regardless of their background or individual abilities, has their seat at the table.
We are optimistic that by sharing the products of innovative interventions and inquiries, we can empower each other in our common aspiration of serving all learners judiciously according to their needs

AUC’s 13th President Ahmad S. Dallal, is an accomplished academic leader and renowned scholar with expertise in U.S. and regional higher education. Dallal served as the former dean of Georgetown University in Qatar and as provost at the American University of Beirut (AUB) from 2009 to 2015. A distinguished scholar of Islamic studies, he has taught at AUB, Stanford University, Yale University, Smith College, and Georgetown University, where he also chaired the Department of Arabic and Islamic Studies.

Eng. Teresa Bilinska
Eng. Teresa Bilinska is a seasoned Chartered Building Service Engineer and International Consultant with over 30 years of experience. Holding dual Chartered Engineer status in the UK and Poland, she specializes in mechanical building services and public health engineering. Dr.Teresa has a Master's degree from the University of Technology in Wroclaw and has lectured on liquefied petroleum gas applications. She has worked with renowned companies such as Buro Happold and WSP, managing projects of varying scales with a focus on meeting deadlines and problem-solving. Dr. Teresa's expertise spans gas installations, water quality, and mechanical services, with numerous published articles reflecting her knowledge. Beyond her professional endeavors, Teresa enjoys skiing, sailing, singing, and cycling. Fluent in English and Russian, she emphasizes motivation and humor in engineering success, serving as a mentor and role model for young engineers.

Dr. Alexandria Proff is an Assistant Professor of Education at the American University of Ras Al Khaimah, where she teaches courses in research, leadership, and change. Currently, she serves as the Education Program Coordinator and Department Chair of Humanities and Social Sciences. With extensive experience as a senior administrator in primary, secondary, and tertiary education settings, Dr. Proff has spearheaded successful change initiatives, earning recognition as a leader of positive performance improvement. As a teacher-trainer, leadership coach, and speaker, Dr. Proff emphasizes the practical application of theory, providing educators, leaders, and individuals with actionable tools for enhancing performance and achieving goals.

Dr. Salwa A. Al Majali is an Associate Professor and the Director of Applied Psychology and Special needs programs at college of Education, Al Ain University. She earned her Ph.D. in psychological and educational counseling from the University of Jordan in May 2011. Her academic interest include General Education, Behavioral modification, Cognitive psychology, General psychology, Early childhood psychology and Distance learning. Dr. Salwa has published over 10 journal articles in international indexes, authored 1 book inArabic, and contributed to various national articles.

Dr. Mahmoud Gharaibeh
Dr. Mahmoud Gharaibeh
Dr. Mahmoud Gharaibeh is an assistant professor at Al Ain University in the United Arab Emirates, where he teaches courses related to speech-language and communication disability, as well as special education. He is actively involved in various committees and has extensive experience participating in national and international conferences. Additionally, he has numerous publications in high-quality Scopus Journals.
Dr. Zeenath Reza Khan
Dr. Zeenath Reza Khan
Dr. Zeenath Reza Khan, a distinguished academic and authority on academic integrity, serves as the Founding President of the ENAI WG Centre for Academic Integrity in the UAE and as an Assistant Professor at the University of Wollongong in Dubai. With roles including ENAI Board member, Senior Fellow at WATTLE, and editorial positions, she boasts over 80 publications and numerous awards, highlighting her influence in education, ethics in IT, and STEM for girls. Recognized internationally, her accolades include the Vice Chancellor’s OCTAL award, Turnitin Global Innovation Award, and being named among UAE's most influential educational leaders, underscoring her commitment to education and women's empowerment.

Dr. Hassena Al Katheeri serves as the associate director in the Center for Student Success at Zayed University. With 20 years of experience in the education field, she holds a doctorate degree in Business Administration from Abu Dhabi University and a master’s degree in cybersecurity from Zayed University.
Prof. Alaa Zuhair Al-Rawashdeh
Prof. Alaa Zuhair Al-Rawashdeh
Prof. Alaa Zuhair Al-Rawashdeh holds bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate degrees in sociology with excellent grades from Jordanian universities. With over 24 years of practical experience in Jordanian, Saudi, and Emirati universities he serves as an academic, researcher, expert, consultant, and certified arbitrator for prestigious awards including the Gulf Cooperation Council Award for Scientific Research, the Minister of Interior Award for Scientific Research in the UAE, and the Sheikh Hamid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi Award. Prof. Al-Rawashdeh has published over 40 research papers in both Arabic and English in esteemed journals and is a member of various civil society organizations. His research interests span diverse fields within social sciences and humanities.

Dr. Ayman Massouti is an Assistant Professor of Education Studies at Abu Dhabi University. He earned his PhD in Educational Leadership from the University of Western Ontario in Canada. His research interests include inclusive teacher education, educational leadership, and policy analysis.
Prof. Dr. Ghanem Al Bustami
Prof. Dr. Ghanem Al Bustami
Prof. Dr. Ghanem Al Bustami holds a PhD in Educational Psychology and Development, an MA in Educational and Psychological Measurement, a PG Diploma in Special Education and Rehabilitation, and a BA in Psychology. He serves as a professor of Psychology, Leadership, and Special Education across multiple universities, including his current position at ADU since 2005. Prof. Al Bustami has authored over 65 scientific papers and research articles, along with six books and chapters. He has presented over 100 papers at various national and international conferences and has led numerous projects and developed manuals in diverse fields such as Psychology, Education, Capacity Building, Teacher Preparation Programs, Special Education, Social Development, Early Childhood Programs, Curriculum Development, Professional Development, and Institutional Enhancement. Additionally, he has worked as a program director and consultant for international organizations, including the World Bank, UNESCO, and various regional governments.

Dr. Hanan Halaseh
Dr. Hanan Halaseh earned her PhD in Social Psychology from Roh Alquds University in Lebanon. She serves as an Assistant Professor at Al-Isra University and operates a private clinic offering psychological services. Dr. Halaseh is also a consultant at Theodor Schneller German schools in Amman and works as a part-time lecturer in the Department of Psychology and Women’s Studies at various Jordanian universities, including the University of Jordan and the University of Petra.

Dr. Yousra Osman
Dr. Yousra Osman is a lecturer in Early Childhood and Education at Middlesex University Dubai, serving also as the Campus Program Coordinator for the department. She completed her PhD in Education at The University of Birmingham, UK exploring the significance of using role models for moral development in school children. Prior to that, she earned an MSc in Mental Health: Psychological Therapies from Queen Mary, University of London, as well as an MA in English Literature from the University of Westminster.

Dr. Ahmed Hemdan is a professor at the Special Education Deptartment, College of Education, UAE University. He is an active member of several professional organizations including the World Council of Gifted and Talented Children (WCGTC),and one of UAE delegates. Additionaly, he is affiliated with the European Council for High Ability (ECHA), American Educational Research Association (AREA), Council for Exceptional Children (CEC), and National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC).

Emad A. S. Abu-Ayyash is an associate professor of education/TESOL at the British University in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. He obtained his Ph.D in Education/TESOL from the British University in Dubai in 2016, his M.A. degree in translation from Yarmouk University, Jordan in 2007, and his B.A. degree in English literature and linguistics from Yarmouk University, Jordan in 1996. His research interests and publications include discourse analysis, teaching and learning, translation, assessment, online education and TESOL.

She is an experienced Teacher-Educator and Corporate Trainer, specializing in Psychology education at both graduate and post-graduate levels since 2003. Additionally, she serves as a Ph. D Guide at the University level.

Dr. Muna Alhammadi is an Assistant Professor in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, Department of Education at Zayed University. She holds a Ph.D. in Inclusive Education from Deakin University, Australia. Her research interests include exploring the lived experiences of people with disabilities, inclusive education practices and challenges in both school and higher education settings, and advocating for social justice for individuals with disabilities.
Prof. Abdulai Abukari
Prof. Abdulai Abukari
Prof. Abdulai Abukari is currently Professor of Education Management, Leadership and Policy, as well as a Visiting Fellow at the University of Glasgow. He serves as the Head of Programmes and Coordinator for a number of modules in the Faculty of Education at the British University in Dubai (BUiD). Prof. Abdulai Abukari completed his PhD in Comparative and International Education from Middlesex University and Master of Philosophy from the University of Oslo in the same discipline. He specializes in Comparative and International Education (Policy, Leadership and Management); Quality Assurance in education particularly higher education; Workplace Learning and Teacher Education.
Prof. Bushra Ahmed Al-Akashee
Prof. Bushra Ahmed Al-Akashee
Prof. Bushra has been serving as the Head of the Education Department in the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences at the University of Sharjah since 2015. She has published 90 research papers in refereed journals and presented them at conferences, in addition to conducting applied research for community service. Her specialization includes a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology, general specialty, as well as a doctorate in General Psychology.

Dr. K.Saileela is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Education, Annamalai University. She also holds the position of Coordinator for the Women's Self-Defense Training Centre. She has over fifteen years of teaching experience, and her scholarly contributions include presenting over 24 papers at both national and international seminars/conferences, attending 18 workshops, publishing three books, 2 chapters in an edited book, and 28 research articles in various peer-reviewed journals. Her areas of specialization include the Pedagogy of Teaching Mathematics and Educational Technology.

Dr. Natasha Jankowski is a recognized expert in higher education and assessment, having previously served as the Executive Director of the National Institute for Learning Outcomes Assessment (NILOA). She currently holds a position as a lecturer at New England College. Prior to this role, she worked as a Senior Fellow with the Strada Education Foundation and served as a research associate professor and graduate program coordinator at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

Dr. Nilushi Karunaratne is a Lecturer in the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at Monash University, with a strong teaching and emerging education research profile focused on teamwork and resilience skill development, as well as international student engagement. She completed her Ph.D. in neuropharmacology within Drug Discovery Biology in 2017 and currently serves as an Education-focused academic teaching across the Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Science and Bachelor of Pharmacy/Masters of Pharmacy degrees at the Faculty.

Dr. Alexandra Nicolas Gazis
Dr. Alexandra is a licensed clinical psychologist with two Master’s degrees and a PhD in the field of counseling psychology and addiction. She is also a sand therapy practitioner. Currently, Dr. Alexandra is responsible for the accessibility unit at the Office of Student Well Being and serves as an adjunct psychology faculty member in the psychology department at AUC. She works with various types of disabilities, providing assessments, personal support and academic accommodations for university students with disabilities. Additionally, she specializes in various approaches for individual psychotherapy tailored to client needs.

Dr. Rasha Abdel Rahman is the head of the Psychology Department at the College of Humanities and Sciences, Ajman University. She holds a Ph.D. in Psychology from Ain Shams University and has published numerous research papers and books in the field of psychology. With extensive experience in university teaching, she also has a long history as a psychological consultant in counseling and therapy, having worked in various universities and psychological centers in the United Arab Emirates.

Dr. Ahmad Alzubi is an Associate Professor in the Psychology Department at Ajman University since the first semester of 2018. He actively participates in teaching, mentoring, training and engaging in committees such as accreditation, academic effectiveness and exams, counseling and practicum. He specializes in various courses within the field of psychology including General, Developmental, Physiology, Educational, Personality, and Social among others. With experience in teaching talent, creativity and critical thinking, He has published research in Arab and international journals covering topics such as intelligence, creative thinking, motivation, and brain-based learning. His work also explores areas such as habits of mind, positivity, personality and learning styles.

Dr. Saif Musa
Dr. Saif Musa specializes in Social Psychology and International Social Work, focusing on humanitarian studies and related issues such as education, counseling, training, research, and intervention. He earned his Doctorate Degree in Human Development with an emphasis on humanitarian assistance and international non-governmental organizations (International Social Work) research from Kyoto University (KU), Japan in 2002. During his time at KU, he conducted research from Social Psychology perspective (Group Dynamics) on the relationship between state and international NGOs, exploring how this relationship impacts relief activities for internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Sudan. Dr. Musa’s extensive research experience at KU is complemented by his hands-on involvement in supervising NGOs activities in Kosovo while working with the United Nations Mission (UNMIK) - the Civil Administration from 2000 to 2001.

Dr. Rukiya Deetjen
Mrs. Rukiya Deetjen is an educator in the United Arab Emirates who specializes in accessibility and policy writing for People of Determination at Zayed University. She has published extensively on learning disabilities and swarm intelligence in higher education. Rukiya seamlessly integrates technology and Universal Design for Learning into her daily practice, enhancing academic experiences for students and faculty. Her doctoral dissertation research focuses on retention strategies for at-risk university students in the Middle East Arab Gulf Region. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education, a Master's Degree in Special Education focused on Autism Spectrum Disorder, and is expected to complete her Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Community Organizations in September 2023. Mrs. Deetjen was honored with the Black Excellence Award in 2021 for her exceptional contributions as an educator.

Ms. Rema Menon Vellat
Ms. Rema Menon Vellat is the Founder and Director of Counselling Point Training and development, established in 2005. It is one of the first educational advising and counselling centers in the UAE. She holds a Masters degree in Medical and Psychiatric Social work from Stella Maris College and a Bachelor of Science degree from Women’s Christian college, Chennai, both affiliated to Madras university. She has over three decades of professional work experience in the areas of education, career counselling and child welfare.

Dr. Osman Ahmed
Dr. Osman Ahmed is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at the College of Humanities and Sciences, University of Ajman. He also served as a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Sharjah from 2010 to 2012 and held positions as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology and Anthropological Studies at the University of Juba and later at Bahri University in Sudan. He is actively involved in various academic committees within the department and college and serves as a member of the Executive Committee of the Arab Society of Sociology. Dr. Ahmed has conducted a significant number of research projects in the fields of sociology and social work. Furthermore, he is a member of several advisory committees for journals in the Arab region.
Dr. Enaam Youssef Mohammed works as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at Ajman University, and an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at Ain Shams University in Egypt. She contributed as a presenter and arbitrator in a variety of international and local conferences, and also managed a variety of workshops, scientific seminars, and forums locally and internationally. She is a social and family consultant for some research and consulting centers and associations and community organizations. She received many certificates of appreciation from many ministries ,universities, and social institutions locally and internationally. She had published in high rank scientific international journals.

Dr. Salah Gad is an associate professor of social work at the Faculty of Humanities and Sciences and a professor of community organization at Helwan University. He has presented his research at major social work conferences, and his papers have been published in distinguished and prestigious social work journals. Dr. Salah won the Rashid bin Humaid Award for Culture and Science for the years 2018 and 2019.

Dr. Zehra Edis received her BSc. degree in Chemistry from the University of Cologne, Germany, in 1992, followed by her MSc, in 1997 from the same institution. She then earned her PhD. with honors from the University of Cologne, Germany, in 1999. Since February 2014, she has been a faculty member at Ajman University, where she was promoted to Associate Professor in 2021. Dr. Edis has published more than 53 papers and has received 8 Internal Research Grants (IRG) as Principal Investigator and 3 as Co-Investigator from Ajman University. Since 2021, she has also been associated with the Center of Medical and Bio-allied Health Sciences Research at Ajman University.

Dr. Nessrin Shaya, is an Assistant Professor of Education at Ajman University. She holds a PhD. in Education, with a background in Mathematics and Statistics. With over 15 years of experience in UAE education system, Dr. Shaya is a highly skilled teacher trainer, curriculum designer, researcher and reviewer for international journal.

Dr. Gabriel Andrade received a PhD from University of Zulia (Venezuela), in 2008. He worked as Titular Professor at University of Zulia from 2005 to 2015. He then moved on to teach at the College of the Marshall Islands (Republic of the Marshall Islands), Xavier University School of Medicine (Aruba), and St. Matthew's University School of Medicine (Cayman Islands). He joined Ajman University in August 2019. His main area of research is Ethics and Psychology in a medical context.

Prof. Marei Ahmed is a Professor of Psychology at Ajman University, United Arab Emirates. He obtained two Ph.D.s from Rennes 2 University in France, specializing in Sports Sciences and Psychology, and Social Psychology. For many years, he served as a contractual professor and researcher in two French universities. Additionally, he has held positions as a lecturer, assistant professor, and associate professor in Egypt. Dr. Marei was the first Arabic researcher elected to the large board of directors of the International Positive Psychology Association (IPPA). He has published three books in both French and Arabic and edited the first Arabic reference in positive psychology, which integrates the work of twenty internationally recognized researchers from five continents.

Doctor Jigna Stott is a consultant psychiatrist and specialises in General Adult Psychiatry, Old Age Psychiatry as well as liaison psychiatry. Doctors Stott completed her training in the UK and has worked on inpatient wards as well as in the community. She has a keen interest in medical education and has been teaching mental health communication skills in Europe for over 10 years. Doctor Stott is also interested in research particularly around improving mental health services for the wider public and promoting mental health. She currently holds the role of clinical assistant professor at Ajman University College of medicine.

Prof. Nadir Kheir
Nadir Kheir is currently a Professor at Ajman University (UAE) and the Manager of the Student Success Center at the university. He is also an Honorary Academic with the School of Pharmacy, The University of Auckland (UoA), New Zealand, where he was the Academic Director of the Postgraduate Program from 2017 until 2019. Prof Kheir was a founding member in the development of two internationally recognized faculties of pharmacy (School of Pharmacy at the University of Auckland, and College of Pharmacy at Qatar University) where he gained a wealth of academic, research, and managerial experience as the Founding Chair of Clinical Pharmacy and Practice, in addition to expertise in accreditation, student achievement, governance, diversity, innovation, and organizational change in tertiary education. His years in education and leadership have equipped him with hands-on experience on curricula and program development including interprofessional continuing professional development programs. Prof Kheir have had the privilege to have worked in several countries over the span of his career including Oman, Qatar, New Zealand, and the United Arab Emirates, which enabled him to forge strong relationships with a variety of key stakeholders and individuals in academia, government, and the community.

Dr. Verica Gajic is an assistant professor at Mechanical Engineering Departments, Ajman University. Her expertise is in Dynamics Modeling, Control and Analysis of complex systems, like bio systems, Energy systems, Vibration. As a teacher she has dedicated herself to introducing innovative and active teaching methodologies. She is also an advocate for inclusive education that incorporates gifted students needs as well students with learning disadvantages and difficulties.
