Ajman University of Science and Technology has inaugurated a state-of–the-art training, research and diagnostic center for X-ray and imagining in the field of Dentistry. The inauguration ceremony was held at Sheikh Zayed Hall and attended by H.E Osama Saeed, University Vice-President, Dr. Aisha Sultan Al Suwaidi, Director of Dental Services Administration, Central Ministry of Health, Prof. Dave Bolin, General Manager of CareStream Europe, Africa and Middle East, Dr. Salim Abu Fanas, Dean, College of Dentistry, amongst other heads of the departments, deans and administration staff. It is noteworthy that the ceremony was attended by Deans and staff from other dentistry colleges around the region as well as care-providers and field experts from various countries.
Mr. Osama Saeed Salman initiated the ceremony by extended a warm welcome to all attending this milestone event. He reiterated the dedication of Ajman University towards these initiatives and the relentless efforts exerted to ensure research is encouraged in all spheres of education. With regards to this, a fully equipped library is underway which will provide a stepping stone for this very purpose. It will be unique in many ways but the most pertinent to this event is its ability to enhance and support the training, research and diagnostic centre being inaugurated.
This was followed by a speech by Dr. Aisha Al Suwaidi, who praised this collaboration and stressed that the main beneficiaries are the students and doctors who will have a hands-on experience thereby by increasing their skills and efficiency in dental treatment and diagnosis. In the context of continuing education programs offered by the ministry for dentists, she explained the importance of these programs as a vital key to keep abreast of the latest trends in the world of dentistry.
Dean of the College of Dentistry, Dr. Salim Abu Fanas, expressed his thanks and appreciation to the university administration, which spares no effort in supporting the college to improve their standard of teaching and training. He explained that this event comes within the development plan adopted by the college to upgrade and update technical and academic knowledge, parallel with the rapid development in various applied sciences. He stressed that the agreement entered into by the university with CareStream, a leading company in medical imaging with more than a hundred years of experience, aims to provide the best medical services to patients, and training to students and teaching staff on the latest dental imaging devices.
The agreement provides the university with the latest X-ray imaging devices and training for their utilization in the diagnosis of patients, in addition to providing technical support and maintenance services. The agreement also allows the use of these devices for educational and research purposes both for AUST students and other dental students who will be trained at AUST clinics.
