Ajman University Welcomes Maysoon Zayid: Championing Laughter, Inclusivity, and Empowerment

Ajman University, a leading non-profit university, proudly hosted the illustrious Arab-American actress and comedian Maysoon Zayid for an engaging stand-up comedy performance. A renowned actress, comedian, and writer, Maysoon is also known as a prominent advocate for the rights of people of determination.  

A graduate of Arizona State University and a Princeton Fellow, Maysoon Zayid co-founded and serves as co-executive producer of the New York Arab American Comedy Festival and the Muslim Funny Fest. Zayid's media presence includes appearances on 60 Minutes, CNN, ABC News, and Oprah Winfrey Networks. Notably, her TED Talk was the most viewed of 2014, complemented by her collaboration with Huda Beauty.

In her celebrated 2014 TED Talk, Maysoon openly discussed her experiences with Cerebral Palsy, a condition she has navigated with resilience and humor. Her narrative continues to inspire audiences worldwide, particularly motivating younger generations to overcome cultural and personal barriers with determination, empathy, and kindness.

The show was organized in association with The Arts Center at New York University Abu Dhabi and presented in partnership with the United States Mission in the UAE. Mubadala was the Lead Sponsor, along with Lovin Abu Dhabi and Yalla Abu Dhabi Life as Media Sponsors.
