Dr. Mohamad Khairi Ishak of Ajman University’s College of Engineering and IT has been honored with the Excellence and Creative Engineering Award (ECEA) for his significant contributions to engineering research. He secured second place in the "Best Scientific Research in Engineering Field" category at the awards ceremony held in Dubai on February 5.
Hosted by the UAE Society of Engineers at the Mohamed Bin Rashid Library, the ECEA Awards recognize those who have shown innovation and leadership in engineering, turning challenges into opportunities for sustainable development.
Dr. Ishak’s research, "Improved Bald Eagle Search Optimization with Deep Learning-Based Cervical Cancer Detection and Classification," presents an advanced AI approach for automated cervical cancer detection. This research supports the UAE's goal of using cutting-edge technology in healthcare to improve early cancer detection and patient outcomes.
The awards ceremony was attended by Sheikh Rashid bin Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Eng. Abdullah Yousef Al Ali, President of the UAE Society of Engineers, along with other industry leaders and researchers. The ECEA 2025 honored excellence in various engineering fields, with categories such as Pioneering Engineering Project, Best Engineering Consultancy Company, and Best Scientific Research in Engineering Field.
Dr. Ishak expressed his gratitude, noting that the award highlights the transformative potential of AI and deep learning in healthcare. He views this recognition as motivation to continue integrating technology into practical applications and plans to expand his research and collaborate with experts to implement AI-driven solutions in medical diagnostics.
