The Department of Sociology at the College of Humanities and Sciences organized a cultural initiative at the Al-Shohouh Association for Culture and Heritage in Ras Al Khaimah, led by Abdalla Al Malak, Chief of Al-Fursan team, and under the supervision of Dr. Nagwa Yousif.
The initiative aimed to educate students about Emirati heritage by promoting customs and traditions that shape the nation's identity. It emphasizes living heritage through interactive presentations and the revitalization of traditional arts such as Rawah and Nadba, fostering cultural appreciation and active participation.
The initiative seeks to connect students with the rich history of the UAE, deepening their sense of national pride and identity by enhancing their understanding of the country's achievements in various fields. It encourages them to actively participate in preserving this rich heritage. Furthermore, the initiative aims to instill national values in the younger generation, enabling them to contribute to raising cultural and historical awareness and fostering a spirit of national belonging.
Thirteen students from the Department of Sociology participated in the initiative, exploring a range of Emirati customs and traditions. They also had the opportunity to engage with experts in the field of heritage, which deepened their understanding of the history and culture of the UAE.
At the conclusion of the initiative, participants expressed their great appreciation for the opportunity to closely experience the customs and traditions of the UAE. They emphasized the importance of cultural initiatives in raising awareness of national heritage and instilling core values in the younger generation. They also highlighted the role of universities in supporting such activities, which contribute to spreading cultural awareness among youth and enhancing mutual understanding of local heritage.
The College of Humanities and Sciences continues its outstanding efforts to support and promote national culture by organizing initiatives and projects aimed at raising students' awareness of the UAE's heritage.
