Ajman University’s Annual Research Day Showcases Innovative Research by Talented Students

In line with its goal to foster a culture of scientific research and knowledge exchange across various disciplines, Ajman University (AU) hosted its sixth annual Research Day on Friday, June 9 at the Sheikh Zayed Center for Conferences and Exhibitions in the AU campus.

This year, 113 students from various undergraduate and graduate programs across AU’s 9 colleges were honoured. In addition, 30 research papers were recognized, including group and individual graduation projects by graduate and undergraduate students of Law, Dentistry, Mass Communication and Pharmacy and Health Sciences.

The event featured discussions on pioneering research across various fields addressing environmental challenges, and the importance of protecting the environment. It also highlighted the role of new technologies and innovations such as artificial intelligence, photolysis, and biomedicine in advancing humanity’s development goals.

The research projects showcased at the event were characterized by accuracy and creativity, as students carried out comprehensive and in-depth analyses of complex problems and scientific challenges across various fields.  They presented profound results and valuable conclusions contributing to knowledge development and promoting scientific and technological advancement.

Dr. Karim Seghir, Chancellor of Ajman University, attended the event along with Dr. Khaled Assaleh, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Dr. Kamran Arshad, Dean of Research and Graduates Studies, as well as deans of colleges including Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Architecture Art and Design, Engineering andInformation Technology, Law, Media, Humanities and Sciences, and Business Administration.

"I would like to congratulate all the participating students for their amazing research projects that show unparalleled intellectual maturity, innovation, and creativity apart from a deep understanding of their subjects. Ajman University is committed to advancing research and development with the active engagement of its students, and we provide everything we can to support an atmosphere conducive to enhancing the research skills of AU students. I am proud of the outcomes we have achieved together, demonstrated so impressively on this Research Day," said Dr. Karim Seghir.

As the event concluded, outstanding students were awarded certificates and prizesfor their pathbreaking research projects. The audience showed great enthusiasm while witnessing excellent research and innovation at the event, and students expressed their pride and gratitude to the University and faculty members for their continuous support and encouragement.

Basma Abubaker, student from the College of Business Administration, said: “In our graduation project, we delve into the realm of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices and their profound impact on sustainable economic growth, foreign investment, and responsible business conduct in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Through our meticulous research and analysis, we illuminate the crucial role that ESG practices play in fostering long-term prosperity and attracting international investments. Moreover, our findings provide invaluable insights for policymakers, investors, and businesses alike, equipping them with the knowledge to bolster their ESG performance and actively contribute to the UAE's sustainable development goals.

Hisham Aluswani, student from the College of Engineering and IT, emphasized “The goal of our research is to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children affected by attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Through the utilization of electroencephalogram (EEG), we aim to equip medical professionals with a powerful tool for early detection. By detecting ADHD at its earliest stages, we can minimize the progression of this disorder and mitigate its long-term consequences.”

Dr. Mariam AlQawadi, student from the College of Dentistry, revealed, "Within the realm of dentistry, we have embarked on a revolutionary journey fueled by artificial intelligence. Our groundbreaking application is capable of capturing a child's image during their visit to the dentist and effortlessly transforming it into five distinct expressions: Very Happy, Happy, Neutral, Sad, and Crying. This innovative technology empowers dentists to not only detect the child's emotional state but also identify the underlying sources of fear. With this newfound understanding, we can effectively support children in overcoming their anxieties".

Through this event, Ajman University aims to enhance the spirit of excellence and innovation in research and promote the University’s role in developing students’ scientific and creative talents by highlighting theirexceptional achievements and significant research that contributes to the development of society.
