As part of the University’s ongoing efforts to support a carbon neutral campus by 2030, minimize the University’s environmental impact, create awareness on climate change and offset its carbon footprint, the Office of Environmental Health and Safety (OEHS) took part in Emirates Environmental Group’s “One Root, One Communi-Tree” recycling program.
With the help of community members notably Office of Facilities, Office of Finance and the Library, the University was able to collect 3,290 kg of paper and is now eligible to plant one tree at the “For Our Emirates We Plant” Event on December 22nd, 2022.
This achievement was made possible through the cooperation of all community members and their dedication to promote the University’s Climate and Sustainability strategy in line with the UAE Green Agenda, Net Zero by 2050 Strategy, the National Climate Change Plan of the UAE 2017–2050, as well as Goal 13 of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
OEHS strives to reduce the University’s carbon footprint, and therefore it continuously finds opportunities to collaborate with different partners to offset the effects of the carbon emissions that can’t be eliminated or reduced due to their complexity or effect on continuity of the University’s operations.
