Effective this Fall, Ajman University is to start its accredited Doctorate of Business Administration (DBA) program.
The program, approved by the Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA), follows a rigorous self-study, including a visit by a multi-national external review team.
The program targets high-caliber professionals in the public and private sectors who are keen to acquire advanced practical research skills, according to a top official here.
“We are so pleased to add the DBA to our growing list of doctorate programs, which already includes a Ph.D. in Law,” said AU Chancellor Dr. Karim Seghir.
“Earning a DBA from Ajman University is an investment in success,” he underlined, paying tributes to the endless support of His Highness Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman And Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Ajman University.
Dr Seghir added that the AU’s first DBA intake is to commence this Fall 2019 with a cohort of 10 graduate students.
“Coursework will incorporate global management models, innovation management techniques, and intensive professional development, leave alone student-driven research as part of their dissertation projects.”
Dr. Khaled Assaleh, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, AU, said the program is part of the university's tireless efforts to bolster scientific research. “This will certainly attract more distinguished professors to AU faculty.”
Dr. Martin West, Dean of the College of Business Administration, AU, said the three-to-four-year program will be guided by three principles – practical, innovative, and impactful – in support of the College vision and mission to be a thought-leader regionally and globally.
“The DBA program is to help students adopt and use the latest technological tools and applications in all practical subjects, adding more quality to the professional and academic levels.”
He added that they are to host professional experts known for their local, regional, and global expertise to enrich the program with a variety of international experiences and practices.
“However, applicants need to meet certain criteria, including a master's degree in business administration or a related field from an accredited university, a practical experience not less than two years in the level of middle and senior management.”
Founded in 1988 as the first private institution of higher education in the United Arab Emirates and the Gulf region, Ajman University (AU) is now being recognized as an emerging leader on the global academic map.
