Ajman University hosted the UAE Engineering Deans Council Meeting. Dr. Karim Seghir, AU Chancellor welcomed the Deans of 11 higher educational institutions to the first meeting of the year. He expressed his happiness at hosting this meeting on AU campus and applauded the diligent work of keeping the Engineering education abreast of the market trends by updating the curriculum regularly, this is only possible because of the dynamic combination of engineering colleges across UAE.
Dr. Fahr Hayati, Dean College of Engineering initiated the discussion amongst members attending the meeting, he stressed on the strengthening of relationship between educational institutions and the industrial sector. This Council assists in the continuous improvement of the process of the college programs by keeping an efficient and direct connection with the Engineering Deans from other universities in order to explore the opportunities for joint collaboration, exchange information and benefit from each other’s experience.
The meeting aimed to promote the advancement of engineering education and research in the UAE, and to serve the UAE community in the areas of engineering and technology. It included a number of important topics such as; Composition of committees of the Council, internal laws and regulations of the Council, as well as discussing all the upcoming events and initiatives undertaken by the council until the next meeting.
The UAE Engineering Deans Council (UAE-EDC) has been established to promote collaboration between UAE-based higher education institutions in an effort to advance engineering, information technology, and computer science education and research in the UAE. The UAE-EDC provides a platform for members of higher education institutions to share information regarding best practices, challenges, and experiences, while supporting greater collaboration between higher education, industry, and government bodies concerned with engineering, information technology, computer science, and related fields in the UAE. Given the emerging status of engineering education and research in the country.
