AU Alumni Shares Success Stories and Career Strategies in Open Forum

Under the patronage and presence of H.E. Sheikh Dr. Majid bin Saeed Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Ajman's Ruler Court, Ajman University’s Alumni Office held the 2018 AU Alumni Open Forum in cooperation with the Alumni Council on September 17, 2018.

The Open Forum commenced with a speech by Dr. Karim Seghir, Ajman University Chancellor, in which he expressed his pride in AU alumni as ambassadors of the University. More than 36,000 alumni have graduated from AU – representing 101 different nationalities – and now work in public and private institutions inside the UAE and across the world.

In his remarks, Dr. Karim reviewed the outstanding achievements of the University. QS Rankings recently named Ajman University as one of the world's top 1000 universities and listed AU among the top 150 universities under the age of 50. Dr. Karim also pointed out that AU’s Bachelor of Pharmacy program recently received International Certification from the U.S.-based Accreditation Board for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), which is the premier accrediting body of pharmaceutical education in the world.

Israa Shaheen, College of Business Administration ‘96, moderated the forum. She is a highly respected business etiquette and international protocol consultant in the UAE. Each of the Forum panelists enjoy successful careers and are alumni of AU: Mohammad Atta Rajab, College of Engineering ’94 and General Manager of Dar Al Najat Medical Technology Company in Saudi Arabia; Hashem Salem, College of Engineering ‘12 and General Manager of Al Owais Holding Company; Sabrin Abdo, College of Business Administration ‘10 and General Manager of Fadia Al Taweel Event Management; and, Niveen Al Gharabli, College of Information Technology ‘95 and Assistant Vice President, Sharjah Islamic Bank.

Participants shared their success stories – from undergraduate and graduate experiences to job market challenges and career progression. The discussion opened up to the audience’s questions about finding jobs and keeping ahead of industry trends.
