The Student Counseling Unit at the Deanship of Student Affairs, Ajman University has held several lectures and workshops to give students added knowledge and enhance their skill set. These come within the framework of AU goal of equipping our students with skills to give them a comprehensive education.
Dr. Rasha Abdullah, Director of the Student Counseling Unit and Mrs. Maha Tahrawi, Social Counselor presented a workshop on "Etiquette Art". It included the concept of etiquette represented by social and behavioral morality used by the person in his daily dealings with others. They outlined the ethics and good practices of interviews, hand shake, meeting friends and strangers. They also explained the proper attire and conduct when dealing with people.
Ms. Maha Tahrawi conducted a workshop entitled "The Art of Communication" and focused on developing the student way of talking, body language and importance of eye contact. She explained the importance of smile and demonstrated to the students the ideal way to conduct themselves in different settings.
At a workshop held in the Students Housing Ms. Maha Tahrawi talked about the experience of living in the hostel. She outlined the importance of self-reliance and how to manage being away from home.
The last workshop, which presented by Dr. Maha Abu Raya, Assistant Professor of Sociology and Social Work at the College of Mass Communication and Human Science, delivered a lecture on personal planning and stages. Dr. Maha talked about planning, which is an activity that takes you from the current situation to what you aspire to reach. She stressed that proper planning and strategy can assist you to achieve your goals.
These lectures and workshops were delivered across the campus for both male and female students. They are part of the AU plan to ensure students enjoy a comprehensive education where their academic knowledge is matched with extra skills.
