The UAE’s President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has declared 2017 as the Year of Giving. Aligned with this dedication Ajman University Innovation Centre (AUIC) organized an Innovation Concourse for Special Care.
Ajman University Innovation Center (AUIC) displayed the best of innovations by the AU students; innovation that benefits the society and improves the daily lives of special needs people. The innovation gallery was opened by Her Highness Sheikha Noora Humaid Rashid Al Nuaimi, along with the AU Chancellor Dr. Karim Seghir, Dr. Mohammed Al Shami, Chairman AUIC Dr. Abdullah Ismail, Director AUIC and Eng. Mohammed Baloola, Deputy Director, AUIC.
AU students showcase their innovative flair by creating and contributing to the community around them, this event brought their innovations to a common platform. The event initiated with a speech from Dr. Karim Seghir, Chancellor Ajman University who applauded the students relentless efforts. He outlined that the best kind of giving is education and the DNA of AU consists of giving out the best of education and co-curricular activities, at AU students are encouraged, supported and celebrated for their achievements. When their innovations contribute positively to the community and benefit the society, AU is all the more proud of them and encourages their promotion.
Dr. Abdullah Ismail, Director of Ajman University Innovation Centre emphasized that he believes giving is not limited to monetary donations. Rather, “giving” is defined by the differences we make: the differences in someone’s life, in a society, or in a nation.
Therefore, the best type of innovation is the innovation that benefits the society, the individuals who work hard and have not given up to achieve their dreams, the creatives, the passionate, the heroes of will and challenge.
Engineer Mohammed Baloola, AU Alumni, Faculty member and the Deputy Director of AUIC introduced the projects and highlighted the remarkable achievements and awards the projects have already attained in the local, regional and the global arena of innovation.
Dr. Osama Samaneh – a psychologist & an expert coach in behaviors & thinking delivered a lecture centered towards interacting & connecting with special needs.
The centers of special needs that participated in the event were rewarded with awards and their creative members were awarded for their hard work and perseverance by Dr. Karim Al Seghir.
In addition, a competition was held between AUIC special needs project. The winner project decided by the audience and special needs centers was B-Motion, a wheelchair controlled by brain signals, the power of thoughts, Engineer Mohammed Noor.
