The Commission for Academic Accreditation has approved the First Ph.D. Program to be offered at Ajman University (AU), we also proudly state that this will be the First in the Emirates of Ajman as well. The program at the College of Law will offers Doctorate of Philosophy in Law, commencing second semester of the current academic year 2017-2018.
This was announced during the press conference held on AU campus today morning. Headed by Dr. Karim Seghir, AU Chancellor, the announcement was made in the presence of Vice-Chancellors, Dean of the College of Law and other prominent members of the AU community.
Dr. Karim Seghir, AU Chancellor stated “This is a defining moment in our distinguished University’s history and future. For nearly 30 years, AU has been graduating students that are contributing positively to the community and economies around the world. The 33000 AU alumni each represent the high caliber of our educational programs that is delivered by our diverse faculty that bring to AU their global expertise and experience; all this on a local platform on a fully equipped campus that is located in the heart of UAE. AU strives to be a vanguard of impactful research and knowledge dissemination and therefore, the successful addition of a Ph.D. in Law to our portfolio of programs is a prime example of turning AU strategic planning into strategic action.
He further added that, “The landmark outcome is the direct result of collective efforts exerted by faculty and staff members in the College of Law and in the Office of Institutional Research and Planning”.
Dr. Lateefah Mohammed, Dean, College of Law; confirmed that the doctoral program aims at advancing students knowledge and skills of the legal disciplines and enhancing their career. The community at large will immensely benefit from the distinguished skills and qualifications offered by the program to lawmakers and lawyers.
She added that the doctoral program will contribute to the development of the UAE community and other communities of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) , through the creation of a qualified cadre that meets the market needs and contributes to the positive development in safe guarding the citizens.
The program encourages scientific research, critical thinking and addressing issues that are persistent towards a safe and secure community. This new qualification will assist the students in attaining and holding higher positions in their workplace. The program will attract individuals from all walks of public and private law field and will be of the same hallmark quality that other specializations at AU offer.
