The Deanship of Student Affairs at Ajman University has a dedicated Unit for Student Counseling to assist and enhance the students skills. In its endeavors to enhance the skill set of students and expand their knowledge they organized a series of lectures.
Ms. Latifa Ali, a social worker specialist delivered a lecture entitled “The ABCs of Happiness”. She highlighted the key aspects of attaining happiness which is not based on materialist standards, and the balance between the body and soul that creates harmony on a subconscious level.
Dr. Khitam Tamim, faculty member, Department of Sociology and Social Work at the College of Mass Communication and Humanities presented a lecture entitled “Depression: Let’s talk about it”.
She pointed out the various forms of depression and their severity, which affects different people in varying ways. She explained that the effect of depression extends to the family of the one suffering and they have to bear the consequences of this disorder as well. Depression can lead to severe emotional, behavioral and health problems affecting the family and society therefore its treatment at an earlier stage is highly recommended.
Dr. Inam Yousef, faculty member in the Department of Sociology at the College of Mass Communication and Humanities, presented an insightful workshop titled “Research Skills”. The key criteria’s to conduct a successful and impactful research was highlighted in the workshop along with useful tips of addressing the relevant issues and reaching a meaningful conclusion. She also streamlined the methodology of scientific researches that can be conducted by students to leverage their education.
The lectures and workshop witnessed a remarkable turnout of male and female students from all disciplines who engaged in productive discussions at the end of each event.
