Solar Decathlon: International Competition for Design of Green Building

Department of Architecture at the College of Engineering hosted a specialized lecture regarding the Solar Decathlon Middle East 2018. Dr. Edwin Rodriguez-Ubinas, Senior Researcher- Energy Efficiency at Dubai Electricity and Water Authority delivered the insightful lecture to faculty and students from all the disciplines of Engineering.

Dr. Edwin is also the general coordinator of the global competition of Universities to design and build buildings self-reliant and solar powered. The next cycle of the competition will be held in the Middle East and teams from across the region and the world have geared up their plans and designs.

The lecture was attended by Dr. Fahr Hayati, Dean, College of Engineering; Dr. Jihad Awad, Head of the Architecture Department along with a number of faculty members and students.

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, Dewa will host the contest at its session in 2018, and has invited various universities from inside and outside the country. The 22 finalists from around the world include Ajman University as well.

After the lecture, members of the university participating team surveyed the location for the project at the university. The team is working diligently towards meeting their deadlines and achieving the goal of a sustainable housing.
