Report: Fourth Education Forum and Physics Olympiad

The Fourth Education Forum and Physics Olympiad was held at Ajman University entitled “Preparing teachers by upgrading the educational system”. The event was held at Sheikh Zayed Centre for Conferences and Exhibition.

The forum was opened by Dr. Mohamed Nasr, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, where he delivered a speech in which he emphasized the importance of the conference, "The preparation of the teacher academically and professionally is a priority. Maintaining the standards of innovation to keep pace with the rapid development in the educational system, and is determined with a creative role in building the human. This is only by standing up to the challenges facing them, and provide them with the skills to enabling them to perform their roles efficiently and competently. Responding to the rapid changes in our modern era and modernizing the effective teaching methods to be the learner, the focus of the educational process and the principal player in a creative vitality, able to address the problems and seek solutions appropriate to them”.

Dr. Abdul Haq, Vice Chancellor Advancement and Communication, Mr. Rabi Khofash, Chief Operating Officer along with Deans, faculty members, student, staff and participants of the physics Olympiad attended the event.

The aim of this event is to "enrich the academic and educational side of the University students through the introduction of some issues that affect the reality of education to put it in the heart of the event to keep pace with developments in the educational arena".

The Physics Olympiad in this forum came from the principle of community service, collaboration with educational institutions and encouraging outstanding students as well as appreciation of schools and teachers in line with the vision of the state in promoting creativity and innovation.

Prof. Sheikh Ould Hamoud, Dean of the College, delivered a speech in which he said, "I am pleased to welcome you to the fourth session of the Educational Forum, which seeks to activate communication, encourage exchange and achieve integration between educational actors and members of the Faculty of Education and Basic Sciences. The seminar is a profound expression of the commitment of Ajman University - under the leadership of  Dr. Karim Seghir - to excellence and continuous improvement in the fields of effective and innovative teaching and learning, serious scientific research, responsible community service and commitment to quality assurance.

 Dr. Sami Al Qatawneh, Head of Educational Sciences Department, said: "Through this gathering of educators, this forum aims to highlight some of the successful models of teachers and educators who have enriched the educational field with their expertise and skills. In designing programs and creating an attractive academic environment. "

Mrs. Enas Khalil, In-charge of the Training Office at the College, said: “The rapid developments around the world and what the UAE is witnessing requires a qualitative educational system that goes hand in hand with the development process as a first class system. Every year we hold an educational meeting in which we share experiences, enrich the content and give thought to investment and moral, social and cultural outcomes through dialogue sessions. Training workshops and stoppages with field training and trainees' experiences of teachers and distinguished students in the field of education”

In addition to the forum, there was an area to highlight the development partners of the educational institutions who accompanied the college in the past days of the schools of several students and high school students to participate in the competition and challenge in the event of the Physics Olympiad and to meet during the fourth educational forum honoring the one who was ahead and excellence, In this event which will be repeated in the coming years with a new Olympics in a new way.

Dr. Atef Abdel kader, Head of mathematics and science, said "The importance of the Physics Olympiad is to create a suitable environment for scientific competition among secondary school students in various fields of physics, to encourage students to take care of science, mathematics and engineering innovations, to build a society based on scientific knowledge and to improve the personal skills of students," said

Mr. Samer Zyoud, Faculty member and organizer of the event said: "The establishment of such a cultural competition is part of the promotion of confidence in the age of young people on the ability to transform and crystallize ideas, develop students' scientific expertise and obtain higher quality in the field of science in which they are promoted,". And Necessary for the advancement of the homeland and make it within the developed state in scientific fields. "

During the meeting, the results were announced and the students who won the first three places in the Physics Olympiad and the schools participating in the Olympics were honored and the schools where the students won the highest level of first and second place.

On the sidelines of the event, Dr. Abdul Haq Al Nuaimi, Vice-Rector for Communication and Development, and Dr. Mohamed Nasr, Vice President for Academic Affairs, accompanied the exhibition which included projects and research works for school students in the "Best Scientific Project Competition" of high school students' projects which were presented during the forum.  Prof. Sheikh Ould Hamoud, Dean of the College formed a committee from inside the college composed of Dr. Atef Abdelkader, and Mr. Samer Zyoud to evaluate projects and elect the best ones.

The forum's activities vary between the presentation of distinguished work papers from the experienced and specialized guests of the forum from outside the university and who presented the working papers touching on reality. During the forum, a lecture on successful experiences in education was presented by Dr. Mahra Al-Mutaiwei, Director of Regional Centre for Educational Planning and Dr. Turki Fahed Al Masaeid, Student Counselor, Academic and Career Counseling, Ministry of Education, UAE presented lectures about the challenges faced under the changing conditions in the 21st century.
