First UAE University to Join “Tumoohi” by Jafza
Ajman University (AU) becomes the first University in the United Arab Emirates to join the prestigious initiative “Tumoohi” launched by Jebel Ali Free Zone, JAFZA. Dr. Karim Seghir, AU Chancellor and Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and CEO of DP World and Chairman of the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to partake in this noble initiative. Tumoohi encompasses the leading multinationals within Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza).
Chancellor Seghir elucidated that the “Employability and employment of AU students have been our prime focus in the past 29 years. We equip our students with the skill set that the ever evolving industry demands of them, whilst providing them with avenues to practice and hone the acquired skills. Tumoohi will leverage the employment of the local students, which is part of our commitment to support the wise vision and the strategic organizational framework of the UAE leadership. Ajman University offers a unique learning experience based on academic rigor coupled with hands-on exposure, thus giving AU students a competitive edge in the private business sector”.
Mr. Bin Sulayem said, “Through Tumoohi, Emirati graduates will train with elite companies based in Jafza that will equip them with the knowledge and skills to make their mark in the corporate world. The programme is a unique opportunity for youngsters to gain experience in a range of business sectors and participate in the economic growth of the nation.”
Tumoohi is an ambitious internship programme, under this initiative, Emirati graduates will intern with partner companies between six months to one year. At AU, learning is an experiential journey of curriculum intrinsically woven with complementing co-curricular activities. AU places paramount importance on its students being able to cope with the job market once they graduate, and therefore it bridges the gap between the academia and the workplace during the students tenure at the University. It inculcates the values of a comprehensive education by providing ideal platforms of training and hands-on approach to work.
Tumoohi, Jafza now joins Ajman University with leading organizations in the UAE, including Agility, BSA Ahmad Bin Hezeem & Associates, MAN Truck & Bus AG, Nestle, Ocean Fair International P&G, Proclad and Unilever.
