Ajman University actively participates in health awareness drives and October being the dedicated month of Breast Cancer Awareness, AU community got together to celebrate and educate on this topic.
AU and Ajman Medical Zone organized an awareness drive on campus, hosted by renowned television presenter Fadia Al Taweel. She inspired the girls and encouraged them for regular check ups. She talked about her struggle with this disease and how she managed to fight it over time to lead a normal healthy life once again.
Dr. Nada Younis, General Practitioner at Ajman Medical Zone, spoke about the psychology of breast cancer and the associated psychological effects it has on the patients and survivors. Mrs. Alia AL Shamsi, Head of the Health Education department at Ajman Medical Zone focused on stressing ways to prevent the onset of this disease and she highlighted measures to reduce the chances of having breast cancer.
The campaign was also hosted the American public speaker & life coach Shaden Bolbol, who presented a special lecture entitled optimism and hope.
The female students from the Faculty of Pharmacy and the Student Club Caravan of Giving along with sports teams participated in the campaign too. The Pharmacy students organized an exhibition of healthy food and presented a lecture on the disease and its prevention methods. Along with a presentation of beneficial exercises for a healthy body and mind.
At the end of the campaign, Dr. Nahla Al Qassimi, Dean of Student Affairs honored the guests and thanked all those who contributed to the success of the event.
