Department of Bio-Medical at the College of Engineering in collaboration with Career Counselling Office and the Deanship of Student Affairs organized a Bio-Medical career day on campus.
Dr. Karim Seghir, Chancellor, Ajman University welcomed the dignitaries and officials, along with the Vice-Chancellors, Deans and Directors of the Departments.
Dr. Thomas Wallen, Hospital Director, Sheikh Khalifa Hospital, Mr. Abdulaziz Hussain Al Waheedi, Deputy Director of Ajman Medical Zone, Mr. Saleh Al Janaibi, Director, Khalifa Hospital and Professor Patricia Connolly, University of Strathclyde graced the event with their presence and knowledge.
The event included an exhibit and speeches by the officials. The exhibition included pharmaceutical and bio-medical engineering equipment and technology being displayed for the visitors, along with students’ display of posters and researches. The delegates and students visited the exhibition and benefitted from the informative briefing by the representatives. The event also honored the academic and business partners who have contributed to the skill sets of the students and alumni.
In his speech, Chancellor Seghir outlined the importance of these events in linking the AU students with the labor market. He appreciated the efforts of the specialized companies in the bio-medical field. He also pointed out that the department’s alumni hold public and private sector jobs in UAE and around the world.
Many AU alumni took to the stage to express their experiences and guide the students with their knowledge. Some highlighted the planning of a career while others dealt with the start-up of their own business. Dr. Mohammed Nasr, head of the Bio-Medical Department and Interim Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs, answered queries and gave clarifications of the questions posed by the students, alumni and audiences.
