AU Holds a Lecture on

His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed President of UAE, May Allah protect him, has declared 2017 as a Year of Giving, following the directives the General Committee at the College of Law at AU launched the “Culture Initiative” this aims to spread an awareness of the legal culture among the members of society.
In implementation of this initiative, the College organized a lecture on "Drug Crimes“ delivered by Dr. Ahmed Shaker, Faculty Member, College of Law, it was well attended by a group of academics and administrators at the National School in Ajman.
The lecture initially addressed the reasons for targeting the region of the GCC and the UAE by criminal gangs which organizes the payment of its criminal activities to the state and the region in the light of rising national income Of the state and its reflection on the per capita income. The policy of the legislator in the UAE regarding penalties for drug crimes, in light of the ongoing amendments to the law, and the trend was also highlighted in the lecture.
The legislation in UAE, is pursuing measures that seek to reform the drug addict as a patient, giving judiciary the power to place the offender in addiction treatment facilities.
