AU: First University in UAE to Install AED Machines on Campus

Ajman University, in its effort to create a safer campus, undertook a sustainable initiative to install Automated External Defibrillator (AED) across the campus. The AED committee headed by Mrs. Alaa Al Amiry, a lecturer from Unit of General Studies, organized the awareness campaign along with training sessions.  This initiative will elevate preparedness level of AU campus when dealing with cardiac arrest victims thereby increasing their chances of survival.

Six of our medical clinics staff at AU have been received comprehensive training on CPR and AED use, which is the Heartsaver course certified by the American Heart Association (AHA), that will give the trainees the authority to use these machines safely on campus.

Mrs. Alaa Al Amiry explained, “We are planning to train as many AU staff as possible annually on Heartsaver and BLS courses by the AHA, with collaboration with Mr. Ali AbouChleih from FAST (First Aid Training Center) company”.

“Ajman University is the first university in UAE to adopt these machines (Zoll Plus AED) on campus,” stated Mr. Khaled Al-Banna, Business Unit Manager of Leader Healthcare. http://leaderhealthcare.co

AED committee organized a ceremony to mark the end of the training, the trainees received official certifications from the authorized signatories rendering them legally certified to apply CPR and use AEDs professionally to carry out the AED procedure on any victim
