Mrs. Alaa Al Amiry, a lecturer at Ajman University, was honored by His Excellency Dhahi Khalfan, Head of General Security for the Emirate of Dubai and Chairman of Hamdan Bin Mohammad Smart University, Board of Trustees. This award is bestowed upon her for winning the prestigious Conti Research Prize for Systems Thinking and Organizational Capability on her recent research.
The Research Prize has been established by Hamdan Bin Mohammad Smart University (HBMSU) in honor of Professor Tito Conti, an Italian eminent scholar and consultant in the areas of quality and organizational excellence. The purpose of this Award is to encourage and reward research that moves away from a mechanistic approach towards a more systems based approach in the context of organizations.
Her research, titled “An Exploratory Study of the Use of Mobile Apps and its Implications for Internal Business Processes in Healthcare Organizations in the UAE” is a qualitative study in which she surveyed selected healthcare establishments in Dubai to explore their utilization of mobile apps into their internal operations, which was her thesis for MBA from Strathclyde Business School, UK. The researcher was able to identify specific predictors for the readiness of businesses to adopt mobile apps into their internal operations were identified, from which recommendations for decision making were drawn.
The award was received at Innovation Arabia, an annual international conference sponsored by HBMSU. Ajman University encourages its faculty members to undertake researches that contribute positively to the society.
