An AU delegation, headed by Chancellor Karim Seghir, Ph.D., paid a visit to Juma Al Majid Center for Culture and Heritage in Dubai. They included members of the Board of Trustees and a number of higher management officials.
The delegation was received by His Excellency Juma Al Majid, the prominent Emirati businessman, philanthropist and founder of the Center. AU Chancellor and his delegation toured the Center’s rich library, and got a sneak peek at some rare Arabic manuscripts and historical documents. They were also briefed on maintenance and restoration techniques and the digitalization process of all paper-based collections.
The visit comes within the framework of the strengthening AU’s tie with the esteemed institutions of UAE. Both parties discussed avenues of cooperation that would benefit the students and their research initiatives. The scientific and historical values of the books could immensely assist the students and faculty alike.
Chancellor Seghir appreciated the warm welcome extended by His Excellency Juma Al Majid and thanked him for his continuous support to educational and scientific institutions and students in UAE in general and Ajman University in particular.
The delegation also met with Dr. Mohamed Abdel - Rahman, Director of the Faculty of Islamic and Arabic Studies, a subsidiary of Juma Al Majid Group, and the two sides discussed ways of cooperation between the College and AU.
The university delegation consisted of a number of officials at the university as well as members of the Board of Trustees of the University.
