Professor Hosny Mahmoud Abd El Samad, Faculty member of Private Law at the College of Law at Ajman University, won the first prize in the Rashid bin Humaid Award for Culture and Science at its thirty-fourth session in 2017.
Dr. Hosni presented a scientific research entitled "Pre-marital medical examination and its role in the prevention of diseases" a study of compulsory legal medical test. In his research, the issue of conducting compulsory medical examination before marriage is one of the issues in which contemporary jurists differed.
The first is that a guardian may agree to the issued law requiring all applicants to marry after medical examination, so that the marriage is not performed until after a medical certificate has been issued proving that it is medically appropriate. The second view is that it is not permissible for the guardian to do so. Rather, it should be left to the discretion of the couple whoa re to marry each other. While intensifying campaigns that raise awareness amongst the people about the necessity and importance of pre-marital medical examination and encouraging them to undergo those.
A law to protect the interests of the individuals is important as it will safe-guard the common interest of the society and the community at large.
