Fine Arts Day at AUST

AUST students were treated to a day of self-discovery and loads of colorful fun. The fine arts center of the Students Affair Department organized a Fine Arts Day on campus for the aspiring artists from all colleges to come forth and try their hands at several art workshops and competitions.

A graphic design workshop and an artifact workshop broadened the students’ artistic knowledge and exposed them to the basics of a number of fine arts. Enthusiastic students enjoyed a plastic art competition and a beautiful “Silent Nature” piece by Reem Mohammed Ziyad, from the College on Engineering, won the contest. In the photography competition, students took spontaneous photos of the University and the winning photograph was shot by engineering student Sarah Ameen.

An insightful lecture on the “Science of Colors” by Madam Mona Al Jabali enlightened participating students on the art of colors and their effect on a person’s mood. It also dealt with the impact of color combination and contrasts on our lives and how the human eye is gifted with the ability to appreciate such a wide spectrum of shades.

Students’ fervor was evident by their keen participation. The Students Affairs Department provided this platform so students from various colleges who have a flair for arts can enjoy it on campus and learn new techniques in this field.
