Ajman University Delegates Peek into the Future of Technology

Ajman University of Science and Technology strives to ensure students and its infrastructure is abreast of the latest technological trends and what better way to implement this by visiting one of the prominent hubs of technology in Asia, South Korea.

A delegation comprising of Osama Salman, Vice President Ajman University, Dr. Ahmed Ankit, Assistant to the President for External Relations, Dr. Mohamed Sehrzad, Director of the University Services and Dr. Chuloh Jung, Associate Professor of Architecture, College of Engineering took a knowledge-inspiring trip to South Korea which started with Samsung SDS, A subsidiary of Samsung Group.

 Ajman University delegation received a warm welcome by Mr. Jack Kim, Vice-President Samsung, SCS Business Group, they were briefed about the current activities and their presence in the Middle East.

Mr. Osama Salman appreciated the warm welcome extended to the delegates and explained that Ajman University is looking forward to play a role in the research and development as the UAE is witnessing a unique boom and prosperity in all fields, under the wise leadership of HH Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of UAE and the relentless encouragement of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and the Ruler of Dubai.

“Inspired by the recent initiative launched by the Noble Leadership of UAE to dedicate the forthcoming year 2015 as the Year of Innovation, Ajman University endeavors to promote creativity and will launch a landmark project, Ajman University Science Park, which will eventually facilitate collaboration of major stakeholders from the areas of technology, academia, research, development and investment.”

Mr. Salman underlined “Samsung has combined academia, research and investment in an innovative environment which may be a very good experience to learn from at Ajman University”

To this end, the Samsung gave a detailed presentation on the Smart Education, Smart Healthcare, Smart Surveillance and Smart Home Solutions. Ensuing this, a presentation about Ajman University Science Park outlined the deep roots of education that has produced over 30,000 alumni participating in the human development and community service of the UAE and the region.

Ajman University Science Park is an ideal platform to further research and development momentum in the region, recent collaborative initiatives were cited during the discussion; some of them are the CareStream Dental Training Centre on campus at Ajman University, which caters to the needs of the company by providing a state of the art training center with an outreach for regular training held for specialists coming in from the MENA region.

Ajman University also visited the renowned Samsung Digital City, headquarter of Samsung Electronics' global R&D activities where researcher from around the globe come to participate in the innovative environment. They were given a guided tour of the facilities and its expansive infrastructure comprising of building complexes filled with people who are dedicatedly working on research and development.

A visit was arranged to Samsung Innovation Museum, dedicated to exploring the past, present and future of the electronics industry, located in Samsung Digital City in Suwon, Korea. The delegates were briefed on the importance of understanding the history of electronic in order to produce the best for tomorrow.

Samsung Group has ideally combined academia into its realms through the acquisition of Sungkyunkwan University. A tour of the campus and its College of Architecture was therefore part Ajman University itinerary. The reflected College of Architecture at Ajman University is continuously evolving and its students benefit from the exchange of knowledge and culture achieved through collaborative workshops and joint seminars. The Samsung Library was the state of the art housing of knowledge in a contemporarily designed infrastructure.

Dr. Ahmed Ankit, Assistant to President for External Relations at Ajman University elucidated on the trip stating, “This visit complements our students visit to Korea earlier. Their visit was organized with the sole purpose of giving them a comprehensive experience of education by enlightening them to the future of technology represented in Korea. They came back inspired and equipped with ideas and knowledge that enriched their education further”.
