Ajman University of Science and Technology’s Architectural Engineering Department played host to UAE-renowned architecture experts and professors who were invited to assess the graduation projects of AE students. Over a period of 3 days, 12 experts from across the country turned up to witness and appreciate some archetypal design projects produced by the students.
Each student presented their work to the evaluation panel that in turn made its comments and suggestions to improve on the projects. The flaws and weaknesses detected by the evaluators would further enhance the consistency and practicality of the designs under assessment. On the other hand, the positive and creative aspects highlighted were a source of encouragement and delight for the students.
Eng. Ahmed Bukhash, founder and chief architect of ARCHIDENTITY, who is also a member of the evaluation panel, stated that the level of professionalism showed by the students reflects the effectiveness of the Engineering College’s curriculum. He stressed that the students should practice what they have learnt in the classrooms, whether at the campus or as part of their on-the-job training in public and private institutions.
Mr. Ahmed Al Ali, another panelist and Head of X-Architects, admired the way the students have bettered their performance remarkably throughout the last semester he has spent at the University. He also emphasized the importance of using modern technology and keeping abreast of the latest advances in architecture engineering both as a science and as a profession.
Dr. Jihad Awad, Head of AUST Architectural Engineering Department, said that this move falls within the College’s overall plan to enhance students’ theoretical and practical backgrounds through availing of all the expertise the invited architects have to offer in such an event.
