AED 5 million expansion for Ajman University’s Library

Ajman University of Science & Technology has undertaken a few infrastructure developments planned for various university facilities. These are planned in various stages and throughout the spectrum of student services. The first and most integral of these developments announced by the University management is the establishment and refurbishment of AUST central library.

The library houses the vital heartbeat of knowledge, therefore its expansion would reap the greatest benefits for students, professors and researchers at the campus.

Mr. Osama Saeed Salman, Vice-President of AUST, stressed “the predominant role of initiating such projects, specially the library, for it will have a direct and positive impact on the quality of education being currently imparted and the researches being conducted at the university”.

This project will realize the expansion of the current library by 4,000 square feet, bringing the total to an approximate 21,000 square feet worth of knowledge and wisdom. In addition, to allocating areas for students (male and female) it would be operational 7 days a week. Some of the highlighting features include designated enclosed areas equipped with the latest multimedia.

The unique rooms provided for reading have a serene and apt atmosphere to motivate readers. The students can avail the meeting rooms designed for group study and collective work for academic projects and other relevant studies; without disturbing the ambiance of the library and the concentration of other users. ‘The monetary investment in this ambitious project is approximately AED 5 million and the university would be able to open its doors of wisdom at the beginning of the fall semester” pointed out Mr. Osama Saeed Salman.

On the other hand, the resources currently available at the library are also being updated with the latest information resources by expanding the current collection by a variety of books, periodicals and magazines, besides establishing links with internationally renowned electronic libraries and renewal of subscriptions with specialized databases. This will ensure that information and knowledge is within reach of the university users and library visitors.

AUST extends its resources and investments to facilitate the achievement of its aim: promoting scientific research. Thereby, Ajman University attaches special importance to scientific research as the basic component of the educational process. The university published 155 scientific papers during the last academic year, seeking to raise that number to 210 during the current year. Furthermore, to encourage faculty members and provide an ideal platform for research, the university has already drafted a participation roster in local and international conferences to assist them in being published in internationally acclaimed journals.
