Ajman University Celebrates Arabic through the “My Language My Identity” Campaign

The College of Information, Mass Communication and Humanities of Ajman University of Science & Technology organized recently a campaign under the theme My Language My Identity. The event included a celebration organized under the supervision of Dr. Hayam Maemari, faculty member, in Sheikh Zayed Center for Exhibitions and Conferences which was attended by Dr Ahmad Ankit, Assistant to the University President for External Relations, Dr. Basheer Shehadeh, Assistant to the University President for Institutional Development, Dr Khaled Khaja, Dean of the Information, Mass Communication and Humanities College, as well as media faculty and students.

The celebration kicked off with the UAE national anthem, and recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by a lecture presented by Sheikh and recitator Fares Abbad, in which he explained the position and role of Arabic in Islam.  A short film made by student was then projected, advocating a sense of belonging to the Arabic language and heritage

In addition a number of student plays were performed, namely The Child, and Journey to the Kingdom of Letters which were presented in the second day of the campaign.

Dr. Hayam Maemari pointed out that the main purpose of her campaign is to strengthen our awareness about the Arabic language, and utilize the skills acquired by students during their stay in AUST to further develop their Arabic linguistic capabilities. In the conclusion of this event, Dr. Ankit presented commemorative shields to sponsors and organizers.

A dedicated webpage for the event was developed along with Facebook and Twitter accounts to attract continued support and sensitization for this campaign.
