Ajman Ruler Opens AGBA Annual World Congress in Ajman University

His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the UAE Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman, opened on May 19 the 9th AGBA Annual World Congress and the 2nd Technosphere Conference 2012, jointly organized by Ajman University of Science and Technology (AUST) and the Academy for Global Business Advancement (AGBA) under the theme "Business and Entrepreneurship Development in a Globalized Era and the Rise of UAE."

The opening ceremony was also attended by Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Ajman Municipality and Planning Department and H.E. Dr. Saeed Abdullah Salam, AUST President, in addition to a number of directors and officials from governmental departments as well as AUST College Deans, conference guests and participants.

His Highness addressed the conference and welcomed the guests of Ajman and AUST, praising the achievements made by Ajman University and Ajman education sector, and extended his appreciation to Dr Saeed Salman for his efforts in promoting education and for organizing such events.

Then Dr. Saeed Abdullah Salman, President of AUST, addressed the conference and welcomed the participants who were introduced to the University's history and philosophy. In his speech AUST president unveiled plans for establishing a college of medicine and a hospital. "AUST has set up a research and work team and is currently in contact with the Ministry of Higher Education to initiate the requirements for establishing a college of medicine and a University Hospital." He also announced that AUST Board of Trustees is being reconstituted and that an Emiri degree from His Highness, the chairman of the Board will be issued very soon.

Dr Salman also congratulated the college of business administration at AUST for being chosen as the 'Best Educational Institute in Management' by the World Education Congress Asia Awards 2011, a global awards for excellence in education, leadership and teaching, which brought together more than 17 Arab and foreign countries.

"The College of Business Administration, in cooperation with the Academy for the Advancement of Global Businesses, adds up to the extensive list of AUST events by organizing the second Technosphere 2012 Conference," he said, adding that this event is line with Technosphere 2011 for Stem Cells, Technosphere 2011 for Intellectual Property and Technosphere 2012 on Future Pharmacy Education and Practice as well as the Technosphere 2012 Conference on Dental Care, to be organized by AUST College of Dentistry next May.

Dr Salman then addressed his highness the Ruler of Ajman, calling for the establishment of the higher council for education "a local government institution to oversee all education establishments in Ajman and make sure they are in conformity with the standards of the ministry of higher education."

Then Dr. Mohammad Al Shami, dean of the College of Business Administration, took the floor and welcomed all the participating delegates stating that "this conference adheres to AUST goal to provide an open academic exchanging forum for the faculty at home and abroad to discuss and analyze the core issues in international business and entrepreneurship development, in order to have an impact on global developments and shape the destiny of developing countries and rising economies such as the United Arab Emirates in the contemporary globalized economy. We appreciate your participation and intellectual contribution to the conference."

This international conference provides an excellent opportunity for participants to share experiences and cooperation. "Ajman and the UAE are very willing to share their experience with international friends. On the other hand, we also hope to learn more from international experience through extensive exchange, discussions and cooperation to further improve our Business and Entrepreneurship climate." Said AUST dean of BA College.

On the sidelines of the conference, a number of other activities were organized namely a scientific exhibition in which major publishers and education media companies presented their latest prodcuts. In addition a series of hands-on workshops was held by AUST faculty members on several issues related to business management.

At the end of the opening ceremony, Dr. Saeed Salman presented Sheikh Humaid with the Shield of the Conference.
