Ajman University gains accreditation for Master of Architecture and Urban Studies

The Commission of Academic Accreditation (CAA) of the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has accredited a new Masters program in Architecture and Urban Studies at Ajman University of Science and Technology. Commenting on this achievement Professor Fahr Hayati, Dean of the College of Engineering, said: this program adds value to the College and will benefit the architecture and construction booms we are witnessing in the UAE and the GCC. We aim to provide the market not only with holders of Bachelor degrees, but also with more knowledgeable graduates who have the skills to contribute to the design and implementation of projects and ventures conducted by the governmental and private sectors. Prof. Hayati added: We made architecture and urban studies our first step in the stairway to graduate studies to meet the rapidly growing needs of the market, and also allow those students who have B.Sc. degrees in architecture to continue their studies and lead projects with a comprehensive approach that takes into account economic, social and environmental factors.

The first intake of students on the new Masters in Architecture and Urban Studies program is planned for academic year 2009-2010. Applicants should hold a BSc in Architectural or Civil Engineering, have a CGPA of 3 or higher, and a TOEFL score of at least 550, or the equivalent. Students who meet these requirements will be required to complete 36 credit hours divided between 30 hours of study and six hours for the thesis (applicable to both full- and part-time students).
